New Mexico United is excited to announce the acquisition of Nanan Houssou via transfer from Loudoun United. The 23-year old midfielder has played in 82 matches, and for more than 4,700 minutes for Loudoun since his arrival in 2021, anchoring the midfield. Houssou was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and previously played for ASI D’Abengourou in the Ivorian top division.
“Nanan is a terrific professional with unbelievable poise for a player of his age, and is a player we’ve tried to acquire before,” said United Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. “We are excited to finally bring him to New Mexico, and bring an added sense of defensive power to this midfield.”
Houssou broke into the USL Championship at the young age of 21 for Loudoun, initially on loan from ASI D’Abengourou. In addition to the 82 matches he has played for the USL-C side, he also saw the pitch in one US Open Cup match for MLS team DC United, taking on New York Red Bulls in the 2022 Fourth Round.
Houssou has been training with United, and will be available for selection in Saturday’s Black & Yellow Intrasquad Friendly, to be held at the First Financial Training Center at 11:00 AM.
