New Mexico United is excited to announce the loan acquisition of goalkeeper Andrew Thomas from Seattle Sounders FC. Thomas joins United after successful spells at the Major League Soccer, USL Championship, MLS Pro, and collegiate levels, and is on loan for the remainder of the 2023 season.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join this wonderful club,” said Thomas. “I’m eager to get involved and help this team full of talented players push for the playoffs. I’m hoping to contribute however I can. I’ll give everything I have in training and on game days. I’m super-pumped to get started, and to make this community proud.”
Thomas was born in Moscow, Russia, and raised just outside of London, England. He carries triple nationality between the United Kingdom, Russia, and the United States. As a boy, Thomas played for the Watford Youth AcademyHe played collegiate ball for Stanford University, earning multiple all-conference and all-region honors, as well as academic honors.
He was selected in the 2021 MLS Supplemental Draft by Seattle, and has made 34 appearances for Tacoma Defiance – seven of those appearances while Tacoma played at the USL Championship level – in which he recorded a 0.57 goals against average. In his 34 pro appearances, he has recorded nine clean sheets.
Thomas is eligible for selection beginning with tomorrow’s match vs Charleston Battery.
