New Mexico United is thrilled to announce the appointment of Eric Quill as the club’s Head Coach. Quill brings a wealth of experience, an excellent record of player growth and improvement, and a title-winning resume to the club, making him the ideal candidate to lead United into a new era of success.
“We’re thrilled to welcome an incredible coaching talent like Eric to the greatest state in the nation,” said United Owner/President Peter Trevisani. “Eric is a proven winner who aligns with our community-first ethos. His mentality and skill are exactly what we need to take this club to the next level.”
Quill brings experience and success at several levels of the game. Most recently, he served as Assistant Coach for the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer. Prior to that, Quill led North Texas SC of USL League One to the greatest season in the league’s history. His title-winning 2019 saw North Texas claim a league record 56 points – ten better than the league’s second-best finish, and saw Quill claim Coach of the Year honors.
“I’m honored to join this incredible club and unbelievable soccer community here in New Mexico,” said Quill. “In just a few short years, New Mexico United has shown the world that they can hold their own against anyone. This community deserves a winner, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to build on the successes of this terrific club.”
In addition to on-field team success, Eric is well-known for his ability to grow and develop players. He has overseen the development of young stars including US Men’s National Team phenoms Ricardo Pepi, Chris Richards and Tanner Tessman. Prior to his time at North Texas, he led Texans SC to the U.S. Development Academy National Championship, earning recognition as the USSDA National Coach of the Year.
“At such a crucial juncture in our club’s history, I’m thrilled to have a true leader like Eric at the helm, ” said United Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. “He brings a track record of player and team development, as well as an exciting style of play that is exactly what we need. We’re very excited to have him in New Mexico.”
Quill’s tenure begins immediately. He is already hard at work preparing for his New Mexico United debut this Saturday, as the Black & Yellow welcome Rio Grande Valley FC Toros to Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 PM. Fans can get their tickets HERE.
