New Mexico United is excited to announce the signing of Swiss-American defender Timothie Zali. Zali has spent the last five seasons in the Swiss Challenge League – most-recently with FC Wil 1900 in 2022 – a year that saw him make 19 appearances, and score one goal.
“Timothie has a unique athleticism that will translate to success in our league,” said New Mexico United Head Coach/Technical Director Zach Prince. “He is dominant in aerial duels, and has the ability to control individual defending situations behind the defensive line. We are excited to add Timothie to our defensive group.”
Prior to his time with FC Wil 1900, Zali made 16 appearances with FC Rapperswil-Jona, also of the Swiss Challenge League. Before that, he made 66 appearances with FC Bavois over three seasons. Over the course of his career in Switzerland, Zali moved up from the fourth division, to third, to second, serving as a defensive stalwart for his clubs along the way.
